Update: Chicken Express owners release statement

KYTX provides an update to their coverage of a Chicken Express breach affecting hundreds of people in Tyler, Texas and other areas. The breach involved an employee skimming cards at a Tyler franchise. Here is the statement by the owners:

In the summer of 2010, the Tyler police made us aware of a situation involving credit card fraud. They needed our help with the investigation and we have done everything we could to help them. We took care of the problem in the store right away.

We fully understand that credit card fraud is a growing problem all over the world and we have taken great measures to prevent any further incidents in the future. We are constantly monitoring all of our credit card transactions to ensure the safety of our customer’s accounts. We do background checks and drug tests on all our employees. Our credit card systems are up to date with the latest security requirements.

Customers do not need to worry about using their credit cards in our stores. This happened in our store last summer and the problem was taken care of right away. We do a lot to support the community and we want to thank our customers for their continued support and business.
