In the justice system:

  • Two Baylor University students, Nicolas Lukashevich and Nicholas Batts, have been arrested in connection with compromised email and social networking accounts. More.
  • In MS, at least a dozen people had their identities stolen by Candance Brown, Kimberly Gentry, Latonja Casnel, and Jamaal Tyler, who used the data to open accounts at stores and banks to obtain merchandise and money. According to the indictment, Casnel used her position as an employee of JP Morgan Chase Bank to acquire the identities of others. More.
  • In Texas, Isaac E. McCrumby, accused of identity theft, had access to 4,000 names and account numbers that police believe he acquired from an accomplice who worked at several North Texas banks and mortgage companies. More.
  • In VA, Sheila Hairston has been charged with wire fraud for allegedly using her position at a GSI Commerce Call Center to access GSI customer account information and submit false refund claims that were diverted to her personal checking account. More.
  • Also in VA, Jill Dunford was charged with using the identities of her boss and boss’ daughter to open credit card accounts she used to charge more than $26,000 total between April 2007 and September 2007. More.
  • An Indiana woman met Peter R. Ferguson, her soul mate an ID thief, via Match.com, according to a federal affidavit. More.
