Allegations of British Airways data breach denied by airline

It started with Times of India reporting:

Delhi Police have detained a hacker and are conducting further raids in connection with alleged hacking into the British Airways’ systems wherein crooks siphoned off millions of “mileage points” worth several millions pounds belonging to its fliers.

Scores of fliers complained to the airline of losing their travel points after which the airways conducted internal inquiry and informed police immediately after it found anomalies.

But British Airways was quick to deny any breach. In a statement to Business Traveller, the airlines states:

“We are assisting the police in India with an investigation into alleged fraudulent activity.

“We would like to reassure customers than none of our systems have been illegally accessed and no Executive Club members have had their data accessed or frequent flyer points stolen.”

So was there… or wasn’t there?
