Ca: Canac hardware stores victims of a cyberattack

The Quebec hardware store Canac was recently the target of a cyber attack, causing computer failures for nearly two weeks. For the moment, nothing suggests that sensitive data has been stolen.

The cyberattack took place on April 9, confirms Patrick Delisle, the company’s marketing director.

The firm seems to be cautiously optimistic that no employee or customer data was stolen, but their reasons for optimism do not generate the same optimism here.  Translation from the news report:

The hardware store called on a specialized firm to scrutinize the dark web . After two weeks, no data was stolen from them.

Two weeks does not even come close to providing proof of no exfiltration. Does the company have adequate logs that they examined?
