Cz: National library reports outage due to cyberattack

Last month, reported an attack on the municipality of Olomouc in the Czech Republic. This month, we report an attack on Národní knihovna ČR, the national library of the Czech Republic.

In an update earlier today, the library posted the following on its Twitter account:

Z důvodu výpadku IT technologií dočasně nefunguje také služba CIP-Katalogizace v knize. Připomínáme, že nefungují emaily všech zaměstnanců a služeb Národní knihovny.

Děkujeme za pochopení a omlouváme se za případné komplikace.


“Due to an IT outage, the CIP-Cataloguing in Books service is temporarily down. Please note that the emails of all National Library staff and services are not working.Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any complications.”

The library has not stated whether this was a ransomware incident or some other type of incident.
