Hardin Memorial Hospital issues statement on ‘information technology disturbance’

On April 6, WAVE reported that Hardin Memorial Hospital had experienced some type of attack or interruption over the weekend that might be a hacking incident.  Was it a ransomware attack or something else? It wasn’t clear from the hospital’s initial statement to WAVE and it’s still not been made clear.  What has been made clear by the hospital’s statement, however, is that patient care was NOT disrupted and patient safety was not at risk as a result of the incident.

Whatever it was/is, it sounds like the hospital was prepared for it and activated its plan. If so, kudos to them all.
