IL: X-ray films stolen from Rockford's SwedishAmerican

SwedishAmerican Hospital officials reported today that X-ray films were stolen from the hospital back in May, but they don’t believe patients risk identity theft or other harm from the incident.

The films were stolen from the hospital May 31 by a person who claimed to be an employee of the vendor hired to pick up and destroy the films, according to a news release. Hospital officials learned of the incident on June 1 — they notified law enforcement immediately, and an investigation is now complete.

The films may have contained patient names, dates of birth, medical record numbers and dates of services, but no Social Security numbers or financial information.
