Kroll Background America hacked (update4)

Kroll Background America was hacked sometime between June and September of this year. In late October, they determined that 548 California residents had their information acquired.  That information included names, and in some instances their dates of birth, addresses, and social security numbers.

Those whose SSN was acquired are being offered free ID theft services from Kroll Advisory Services.

You can read their notification to California and affected individuals here (pdf).

Update1: Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. was one of KBA’s clients who were affected.  Their notification letter indicates that employment and academic histories may also have been acquired.

Update2: KBA’s report to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

Update3:  The breach affected 171 Maryland residents.

Update4: Marsh & McLennan report that this breach affected 353 Maryland residents who are current or former employees, contractors, or job candidates.
