Laptop stolen from Bare Escentual employee puts employee data at risk

Bare Escentuals of San Francisco has been notifying some current and former employees this week that a laptop stolen from an employee contained their names, addresses, Social Security Numbers, and some salary information.

By letter dated Nov. 1 to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, the firm said that they had “recently” become aware of the theft, but do not report exactly when it occurred, how it occurred, or where it occurred. Nor do they indicate the total number of employees who had personal information on the stolen device.
