MA: Some Amherst online billpayers warned about potential data breach

Diane Lederman reports:

The town is notifying some residents who pay bills online that some data they provided to the town might have been taken, said Town Finance Director Sandy Pooler.

He said the town was notified June 30 about a possible compromise.

He said so far “nobody has been adversely affected. We are in the process of figuring out the scope of it and who’s (potentially) affected.”

Read more on MassLive. They say it’s not a hack, but they don’t say what it was. Hmmm….
