Massachusetts RMV reports ‘accidental loss’ of personal information of 120 people (Updated)

WHDH reports:

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has notified approximately 120 individuals about an “accidental loss” of their personal information.

The report stated that on July 26, documented information including names, addresses and driver information contained in a safe at the Natick RMV branch had been lost.

So how does information in a safe wind up “lost?” Why didn’t WHDH pin RMV down on that to get an answer?

Update: Ah. The safe itself was stolen.
