Morgan Stanley Data Security Settlement emails being sent

UPDATE:  DO NOT CALL DATABREACHES.NET IF YOU RECEIVED ERRONEOUS MAIL FROM MORGAN STANLEY.  THIS SITE IS MERELY REPORTING ON THE NEWS. CONTACT MORGAN STANLEY’S SETTLEMENT SITE FOR ALL INQUIRIES OR PROBLEMS: https://www.morganstanleydatasecuritysettlement.com/

In January, Morgan Stanley agreed to settle a lawsuit stemming from its failure to properly dispose of hardware containing personally identifiable information during 2016 and 2019 computer decommissioning projects.

This week, members of the affected class started receiving email notifications of the settlement. The email includes an individualized “Settlement Unique ID” and “Financial Shield Code.”  You will need those codes to enroll in offered benefits or to file any monetary claim. Some individuals will have been sent the information by postal mail.

But as always, be alert to the possibility of phishing emails, particularly since Morgan Stanley clients presumably are more likely to have assets worth scamming or stealing. The official Morgan Stanley settlement site is here: https://www.morganstanleydatasecuritysettlement.com/

UPDATE/NOTE:  Some people are leaving their names and email addresses in comments under this post thinking that this site will send them more information or updates. No, you need to go to the settlement site for everything. This site merely posted the news and the link to it.  Those comments have been deleted.

I invested with Morgan Stanley in the past but I did not receive a settlement letter. Am I a member of the settlements?

    • James Richie - March 24, 2022

I would like to be included in the settlement

So why are you posting here? This is not the settlement site. Go to that and follow their directions…

Morgan Stanley required my personal information when, as Trustee, settled estates of Leroy R. Borden and Dollie G. Borden in the 2014 to 2016 time period.

“DO NOT POST THIS ‘REPLY’. IT CONTAINS PERSONAL INFORMATION.”

Note from Dissent — I deleted the rest of the comment/reply because there is nothing this site can do to deal with what the commenter wrote.

People: you really need to contact the settlement administrator, not a news blog like this one. I have nothing to do with the settlement or its administration and I can’t help you. Contact the settlement website linked to above.
