NC: Dry cleaner skips town with clients’ clothes

Michelle Boudin reports:

A Mooresville dry cleaner has skipped town, taking her clients’ clothes and credit card numbers with her.

“I took in nine dress shirts and four dress pants,” said Carole Dishman. “They closed up shop. All I’m doing is looking for my clothes. That’s all I care about is the clothes.”

“Then I get a charge on my charge account for an extra charge — $64 and some odd cents. And they had been closed two to three months at the time,” Dishman said.

Police say it appears Calderon-Melendez is still using her old customers’ credit cards fraudulently.

Mooresville police say the owner took off in May 2008, but customers’ credit cards are still being charged fraudulently.
