NC: FBI investigating 8-day cyber attack after ransomware attack on Allergy Partners

John Le reports:

Federal authorities are investigating the ransomware attack that caused a network outage at Allergy Partners locations in the mountains.

The attack happened on Feb. 23 and continued for eight days as hackers wanted a king’s ransom of $1.75 million, according to a report filed with Asheville Police Department.

Meanwhile, the staff was unable to provide allergy shots at the Asheville and Arden offices.

This is the second ransomware attack on an allergy practice disclosed this week. This site had previously reported that Nefilim threat actors had attacked Atlanta Allergy & Asthma. There is no indication as to whether the two incidents involved the same threat actors, but the Allergy Partners attack has not (yet?) shown up on any dedicated leak sites on the Dark Web.
