NC: Wake Forest Baptist medical records found in rental home owned by employee

Richard Craver reports:

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center said Wednesday that it has fired an employee who had boxes of medical records and documents in a home she owns.

Wake Forest Baptist, in a statement, did not identify the employee. According to Forsyth County tax records, the home is owned by Linda-Carolyn Bowden Turner, who could not be reached for comment.

The Winston-Salem Journal is not disclosing the address because it is possible there are more boxes with medical paperwork in the cluttered home and a shed.

Savage said, and FOX8 reported, that the documents appeared to contain thousands of confidential medical records that dated back at least 10 years.
