NY: Fraudulent transactions traced back to Civic Center and Oncenter

A series of unauthorized credit card charges are under investigation by the Syracuse Police Department. All the charges are potentially related to a data breach in or around the Onondaga County Civic Center.

The breach was discovered when approximately 100 individuals found unauthorized charges posted to their accounts. Therefore, the Department’s Forgery and Financial Crimes Section believes the credit or debit cards were cloned.

While the precise origin of the data breach is unknown, the Syracuse Police believe it began somewhere within the Civic Center, War Memorial or Oncenter.
