A health worker has been apprehended by the authorities for an alleged misuse and disclosure of vaccination data. The individual, whose identity has not been revealed, has been charged with accessing a computer system for dishonest purposes. The incident came to light recently, prompting swift action from the concerned authorities. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Wellington District Court on Monday to face the charges.
Te Whatu Ora, the organization where the health worker was employed, has confirmed that the employee has been removed from their position. A complaint has been filed with the police, who are actively investigating the matter. Additionally, Te Whatu Ora has initiated an internal employment investigation to further understand the scope of the incident. Margie Apa, the Chief Executive of Te Whatu Ora, emphasized that the individual had worked in the health system for several years and had the necessary authorization to access the data.

It appears some data had been released, but the government secured an injunction to get it removed from the unnamed overseas website. Whether the data was re-leaked anywhere else is not known at this time.
