OK: Yet another stolen laptop puts sensitive info at risk

Posted on April 29, 2009June 8, 2009 by Dissent

This may not be a good month to be an Oklahoman. First there was the report that an employee of the Employment Security Commission lost a flash drive, then there was the laptop stolen from a Dept. of Human Services employee’s car, and now we are learning that yet another laptop was stolen — this one from a Housing Finance Agency employee’s home on April 22.

In the latest incident, clients affiliated with OHFA’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program have been notified that their names, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, dates of birth and home and business addresses were on the laptop. One news story reported that 90,000 were notified; another indicates that the number of affected is more like 225,000.
