Previously unreported breaches in the healthcare sector

Earlier today, I posted some breaches that had been reported to the NYS Consumer Protection Board during the period September 1 – December 31, 2009, and for the beginning of this year.

The state only posted summaries of the breaches, so I do not have details, but thought that the breaches should be noted.

From 2009:

  • Beth Israel Medical Center – Stolen computer print?outs – 54
  • HealthNow NY – Stolen laptop – 264
  • Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center – Stolen computer – 108
  • Lexington Center for Recovery – Stolen computer – 321
  • Victory Memorial Hospital – Lost or stolen print images – 380
  • Manhattan Management Services – Stolen mailbag – 108
  • Excellus BlueCross BlueShield– Unauthorized data transfer – TBD
  • Abbott Laboratories – Stolen computer – 7
  • Mount Sinai School of Medicine – Missing USB drive – 319
  • CVS/Florida – Stolen computer – 2
  • Group Health Incorporated – Insider wrongdoing – 1
  • University of Rochester Medical Center – Insider wrongdoing – 136

  • Health Net – Inadvertent disclosure – 18
  • Harlem Hospital – Unauthorized access – 1,034
  • Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center – Stolen computer – 38
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western NY – Inadvertent disclosure – 1
