The investigative part of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District completed the investigation of a criminal case on charges of a group of persons with committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Creation, use and distribution of malicious computer programs.”
Operational support of the criminal case was carried out by employees of the Department “K” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the district police officer of the Main Directorate.
The investigation established that the organizer of the illegal activity, a 20-year-old native of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, in 2017 created malicious computer programs designed for unauthorized modification and copying of computer information. Subsequently, he attracted six accomplices to the distribution of the programs, who, in the period from November 2017 to March 2018, distributed more than 2,100 copies of the programs throughout the country, having received an income of more than 4.3 million rubles.
Investigative actions and operational measures were carried out on the territory of the Republics of North Ossetia – Alania, Tatarstan, Volgograd, Ryazan, Tula, Orenburg and Vladimir regions, as well as on the territory of other regions of the Russian Federation.
The criminal case with the indictment approved by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation was sent for consideration on the merits to the Leninsky District Court of the city of Vladikavkaz, Republic of North Ossetia – Alania.
