Scripps College reports second breach this year

It has not been a great year for infosecurity for Claremont-based Scripps College, it seems. Back in July, they disclosed that an employee had been sharing student financial aid applications with an unauthorized individual on and off since 2008.  The employee was not thought to have any malicious intent, but it was still a breach, even though it seems to have flown under the media’s radar.

Now this week, the college has notified 940 students of another breach after a tote bag containing paper records with some personally identifiable information – names, cell phone numbers, e-mail addresses, birth dates and emergency contact information – was stolen from a staff member’s vehicle last Sunday night in Anaheim.

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin has more on this breach.
