Snelling Staffing discloses breach

Okay, here’s a breach report that had me scratching my head. See if this makes sense to you:  a former Snelling Staffing employee tried to set up a cloud-based server at home and exposed employee information.

But if s/he was a “former employee” at the time, why was s/he in possession of any employee information at all on his/her home computer? Did the company know the former employee had all that data on a home computer, or would the former employee have likely continued to retain employee data on a home computer if this cloud breach hadn’t occurred?

Is it just me, or does it sound like there were two problems here?
