TradeMotion hacked

Posted on May 23, 2014 by Dissent

Oops. It seems TradeMotion, who describe themselves as the “Preferred Automotive Dealer eCommerce & Data Services Provider”- was hacked, and customer data compromised.

Now one of their clients, AutoNation, is notifying some of their online customers that hackers may have accessed their names, postal and email addresses, telephone numbers and credit card numbers between March 5 and May 2nd.  Those notified were offered free services through Experian ProtectMyID.

In their notification to customers, AutoNation stated that “We are no longer processing credit card payments through TradeMotion.”

So far, I haven’t seen any notifications from other clients of TradeMotion, but if they’re nationwide and their system was compromised, don’t be surprised to read updates for this incident.

“Those notified were offered free services through Experian ProtectMyID…” LOL, there’s irony for you.
