UK: Beeb boobs by losing stars’ details

When Bruce Forsyth shouted ‘nice to see you, to see you nice’ from the glass staircase of a celebrity-laden boat anchored on the Thames, many viewers felt this was the low point in the BBC’s lavishly funded General Election night coverage.

The Strictly Come Dancing host was one of more than 100 guests, including thespians Joan Collins, Maureen Lipman and Sir Ben Kingsley, historians David Starkey and Simon Schama, and author Martin Amis.


Now there is further discomfort for the glittering guestlist — which also numbered Tory donor Lord ­Ashcroft and Forsyth’s fellow small screen stars Piers Morgan, Fern Britton and Mariella Frostrup.

For a BBC laptop computer ­containing sensitive personal details — including all the addresses of the VIP attendees — has been stolen from the London home of the factotum in charge of invitations.
