UK: Students left without internet after massive DDoS against Network Janet

This story appears in The Express with the headline, “Students left without internet after Islamic State ‘hack’ major computer network.” But who says it’s Daesh that’s responsible for this? There is no official attribution and no one’s claimed responsibility. Is The Express jumping the gun with that headline? The only ones who seem to be linking it to Daesh are students.

The cyber attack on publicly-funded Network Janet has crashed networks at dozens if universities across the UK.

The hack has been linked to the terrorist group also known as Daesh.

Since Monday morning, a continued Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack has flooded the shared server with so much traffic the system has been unable to cope, leaving thousands of students unable to get online.
