Welcome, “WhoComplys” listeners
Thanks to Tom Considine for the shout-out on his show, “WhoComplys” on KHWG today. It was the first time I’ve had a chance to listen in, and I think I know how I’ll be spending my Thursday lunch breaks from now on. For those of you are not familiar with the show, Tom focuses on ID theft. The program airs Thursdays 9am PT, noon ET.
As Tom pointed out on his show, there are a tremendous number of data breaches each year that put us at risk. This site spun off from the privacy “mother ship,” PogoWasRight.org to focus exclusively on breaches and breach laws. A companion site, PHIprivacy.net focuses on healthcare-related breaches that may or may not expose your Social Security Number or financial information, but that still puts you at risk — at risk of medical identity theft, at risk of your most confidential details getting out, and at risk of discrimination in employment if your employer or potential employer finds out you have a particular health problem.
So browse around the sites, and if you know of a verifiable breach I’ve missed, drop me an e-mail to let me know about it. DataBreaches.net is a non-commercial, volunteer effort.
