Western Connecticut Health Network notifying patients that their medical records were in a box that broken open during mailing

Rich Kirby reports:

Nuvance Health, which operates the Western Connecticut Health Network, is warning patients that some of their medical records may have been compromised.

On Monday, Nuvance released a statement that read in part:

“On June 21, 2019, WCHN learned that a box containing medical records that it had sent via the United States Postal Service to the Connecticut State Department of Public Health (“DPH”) had broken open during shipping and its contents were damaged. WCHN had sent the box of medical records to the DPH on June 11, 2019, in accordance with its reporting requirements under Connecticut law.

Read more on Patch.  It’s not totally clear to me from the report whether any files that had been in the box were actually lost when the box broke open or was otherwise damaged, but it doesn’t sound like there was any loss of patient files.
